Job Summary:
We are looking for a Privacy Engineer to help our client address the security and privacy challenges of their Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) platform as part of commercialization stage. The Privacy Engineer will be a critical member of the team, supporting the company with building and delivering ethical and trustworthy technology.
What You'll Do:
- Partner on data profiling and database structure/model research to advise on relevant data and ModelOps best practices regarding privacy and security
- Monitor and report on the latest developments in legislative and regulatory instruments as it pertains to privacy and security
- Help the technical team implement secure solutions that are complying with best-in-class industry standards using coding and architecture best practices
- Support risk reporting and mitigation strategies
- Research the latest trends in anonymization and report on evaluations and make recommendations for improvements
- Lead the implementation & certification for Privacy by Design and Governance by Design principles
- Define and document compliant procedures for end-to-end Data Lifecycle Management Drives compliance in the collection, protection and use of healthcare data assets and enroll other functions like Regulatory, Quality, Clinical, Architecture & Product R&D
What You Bring:
- 5+ years of engineering experience with 2+ years as a privacy engineer
- Strong familiarity with Privacy by Design (PbD) Foundational Principles, FIPPS and the NIST Privacy Framework
- IAPP Certified CIPP/CIPT or in the process of obtaining & processing data assets
- Demonstrated understanding of AI governance activities including oversight mechanisms, documentation, development processes
- Solid understanding of healthcare data privacy concerns and regulations (like Privacy by Design, Governance by Design and HIPPA compliance) including data use agreements, country and regional regulations, state/country/region data sovereignty regulations is preferred
- Exceptional engineering skills and experience with architectural patterns of large, high-scale applications
- Proven software development background using languages such as: Java, JavaScript and Python and being comfortable diving into the code and interacting with developers
- With little supervision, must be able to define, shape, and drive tasks and projects to completion while effectively collaborating strategically with others is required.
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of cybersecurity principles with regards to cloud technologies and platform architectures
Would be a plus:
- Master’s degree or higher education and certifications within the fields of Data Management, Machine Learning and AI, and technology ethics
- Exposure to healthcare regulatory submissions and processes (i.e., FDA premarket authorizations)
- Experience in overseeing security principles in clinical validation studies
- Experience in decentralized privacy: the use of a blockchain to provide more secure anonymous data management and analysis of healthcare big datasets.
